VFS has been appointed as an outsourced partner by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to facilitate the visa applications and legalization of documents and to schedule appointments for visa submission and legalization of Nigerian certificates.

Effective 15th September 2008 you can pay the service charge at GT bank branches and take an appointment for the submission of your documents for the Italian Visa at the Italy visa & legalization application center, Lagos. Visa applicants and people requiring certificate legalization can now easily, quickly and safely book their appointments on-line at their own convenience before coming to the application center.

This web site are contains all information concerning the procedures for appointment booking as well as details about the submission of visa applications , so visa applicants are strongly recommended to carefully read all sections of this web site in order to identify the type of visa meeting their requirement at best. It has to be noted that all visa applications have to be submitted at the at the Italian visa and legalization application center in Lagos.

Important to note:

The application for a Schengen visa has to be made in the Consulate of the country where the MAIN PURPOSE OF TRAVEL lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before making your application . In case you are planning to travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the Consulate where you are going to stay for a longer time.

As of 21st December 2007, nine European countries (the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia) have joined the Schengen Agreement. This means that the Schengen area includes now 25 European Countries: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. New regulations have been established and the visa processing time has lengthened to two weeks.

Applicants are therefore recommended to schedule their appointments well in advance.For any first time or frequent tourism purpose, applicants are advised to schedule at least 4 to 5 months in advance to be able to schedule an appointment and to apply at VFS centre.

Any inconvenience ensued by this new regulation is deeply regretted.

Dear Applicant for any tourist/Business or Conference application, your passport validity should be minimum 9 months from the date of departure for Italy.

Dear Applicants, please be informed that before applying for “ Family Re-Union” application on our website,make sure, you are having all documents’ legalized and your passport should be having proper validity of 18 months from the day of your application.other wise, you will be turned back to apply fresh.

Dear Applicants, please note the seats for appointment for Family Reunion and Work permit are opend till October 2010.Some additional seats for Work Permit are opened till June, 2010. If there are no yellow seats available it is booked out for the above mentioned time. Please be informed that applicants need to come to the centre ten (10) minutes prior to their scheduled appointment.

First available dates for Family Reunion is after first week of September,2010 and for Work Permit after second week of August

Dear applicants, please be informed that for any collection of passports, applicant himself or herself needs to come to VFS centre physically. Other wise, passport would not be given back.Even if husband and wife applied together,for any collection purpose, they have to come either together or separately to collect their individual passports.

Please be informed that Effective from 1st January,2010 Italy, Visa fee for Short Stay would be Naira 13,400 and Long Stay would be Naira 16,700 respectively.

Please be informed, Effective from 16th February, 2009 VFS Logistic fee would be Naira 6798 (Including VAT).

Kindly note that for now the dates available for tourist and business for scheduling an appointment is till May,2010. If there are no yellow seats available it is booked out for the above mentioned time.

First time and Frequent Tourist category applicants are advised to schedule for appointment to apply visa at VFS at least 4 to 5 months well in advance to avoid any disappointment of no availability of seats.Same goes with first time business category applicants.

Presently no seats are available under First Time and Frequent Tourist categories till 10February,2010 and 11th January,2010 respectively.

Please be informed that applicants need to come to the centre ten (10) minutes prior to their scheduled appointment.
