Good news for short term visa applicants: From 1 March, 2011 onwards, no more prior appointment to be taken for submitting visa application at VFS centres in Nigeria.
Short Term Visa applicants can walk in between 8am to 1.00 pm in any working weekdays into VFS centres (Lagos or Abuja) with all relevant fees and submit visa application same day.
No application submission is allowed for short term visit visa on Thursdays in Lagos Centre.
For Long Term Visa applicants, existing prior appointment system continues. |

| |
Important Notice: Applications for all applicants with old machine readable passports will no longer be accepted from 30 October, 2010. All applicants are henceforth to provide the new bio-metric passports. |
| |
|
| |
Visa processing timings: NO visa can be issued before 10 days from the day of transmission of the visa request into the Schengen system (and not from the date of the submission of the application to VFS or this Consulate General). Since all documents attached to the visa applications have to be thoroughly investigated and verified, applicants are therefore recommended to submit their application at least 25 calendar days before the expected date of departure in case of "frequent travellers", and 40 calendar days in case of "first time travellers".
Scope of travel (official duty, attendance of conferences or training) has no impact whatsoever on the technical delay of visa issuance.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. |
| |
|
| |
Courier fee for Abuja application: Kindly be informed that a separate courier fee N6,798.00 will be paid per applicant with effect from June 18, 2010. |
| |
|
| |
Important to note: The application for a Schengen visa has to be made in the Consulate of the country where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before making your application. In case you are planning to travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the Consulate where you are going to stay for a longer time. |
