Dear Applicants
NO visa can be issued before 10 days from the day of transmission of the visa request into the Schengen system (and not from the date of the submission of the application to VFS or this Consulate General). Since all documents attached to the visa applications have to be thoroughly investigated and verified, applicants are therefore recommended to submit their application at least 25 calendar days before the expected date of departure in case of "frequent travellers", and 40 calendar days in case of "first time travellers".
Scope of travel (official duty, attendance of conferences or training) has no impact whatsoever on the technical delay of visa issuance.

Kindly be informed that a separate courier fee N6,798.00 will be paid per applicant with effect from June 18, 2010.
How to find out if your visa is ready
Dear Applicants,
Kindly note that neither VFS nor the Consulate General of Italy would be held responsible for applicant not picking up their passports whenever they are ready for collection at VFS.
Kindly note that for now seats available for Family reunion and work permit till December, 2011 and If there are no yellow seats available it is booked out for the above mentioned time.
Please be informed that applicants need to come to the centre ten (10) minutes prior to their scheduled appointment, for any long stay visa application at VFS Lagos centre.Kindly be informed, Long Stay Visa
applications are only accepted at VFS Lagos Centre and only on Thursday.
VERY IMPORTANT POINTS FOR APPLICANTS OF FAMILY REUNION VISA AND WORK PERMIT VISA
(Valid as from 1st November 2011)
- The “Nulla Osta” for FAMILY REUNION and WORK PERMIT are valid for ONE YEAR from the date of issuance.
- Therefore, applicants are informed that VFS is not authorized to accept any visa application if the appointment has been booked after the expiry date of the “Nulla Osta”.
- No application would be accepted by VFS if ALL the requisite documents are not submitted.
- All the documents pertaining to the applicant (birth certificate; attestation of age; marriage certificate; parental authorization to travel; etc, etc.) MUST be duly LEGALIZED by the Consular Section of this Consulate General. The validity of these documents is ONE YEAR only from the date of legalization.
- The certificates (STATO DI FAMIGLIA; CERTIFICATO DI RESIDENZA; etc, etc.) issued in Italy by the Italian Registrars (COMUNE) must be in original and they are valid for ONE YEAR only.
- Applicants for work permit visa, with a new passport, MUST submit a photocopy of the passport used by the Italian employer to obtain the Nulla Osta. Moreover, if the old passport is reported lost/stolen, a photocopy of the passport should be accompanied by the Police Report pertaining to its loss/theft.
Schedule an Appointment
This page allows you to schedule an appointment for the submission of documents for long stay visa category only at the Italian Visa and legalization application centre of VFS Lagos only on Thursday. Before proceeding to make an appointment, please read the below mentioned requirements carefully.

The applicant has to pay the required Service Fee at any of the designated
branch of Guaranty Trust Bank and that you have the bank receipt number handy
with you for online validation. Please note unless you have a valid bank
receipt number, you will not be able to schedule an appointment.

Applicants are requested to schedule their appointment according to their visa
category. If the appointment is scheduled in the wrong category then the
application will not be accepted and the applicant needs to take a fresh
appointment and by paying the service fee and the bank charges again.

Please carefully read the requisite documents that you need to submit together
with your visa application on the day and time scheduled for your submission of
the application at Italian Visa and legalization application center Lagos.

Please make sure that you have all the documents indicated in the list,
original as well as photocopies since no visa application would be accepted if
one or several documents are missing and you would be compelled to start again
the procedure.

Kindly report to the application center 10 minutes prior to the time of
appointment . As no Application will be taken before or after the specified
appointment time given to the applicant.

Please note, the applicant has to sign the application form in front of the
Officer at the time of submission of the documents.
